I watched Mr. Clint Eastwood’s Jersey Boys yesterday and really enjoyed it. Without any understanding about the musical in advance, I think it will be much easier to appreciate it in its own term. Although you may not know who the hell Frankie Valli and The 4 Seasons is, their songs are really famous in the way that once you hear their songs, you will go “wow, so this and this and this is all their pieces of work …"
The movie Jersey Boys introduces the band Frankie Valli and The 4 Seasons and presents how the original members of the band becomes famous and then how they face the change in members as well as change in their relationship. The band is like a second family to everyone. There is always conflicts, quarrels, but “the Jersey way" is lying under this shaky brotherhood, connecting them throughout the time.
An interesting thing about the movie is the actor’s accent. I am not a right one to judge if that is successful or not, but I really feel amazing whenever I see actors doing accents that are really different from what they usually speak with. Also I am really happy to see Christopher Walken join the cast and he gives us a humorous and calm type of mob, being much more likable than a real mob.
Among the classic, all-time hits from Frankie Valli and The 4 Seasons, the one below is one of my favorites. There have been so many cover versions of it , and the original one is already very amazing. I must admit the one who wrote it is really a genius.
